Cereal supply chains are one of the pillars of French agriculture, both in terms of the volumes produced and the diversity of their outlets. They cover a wide range of crops intended for human food, animal feed and numerous industrial uses, including starch production, fermentation and energy. These chains are characterised by multiple processing routes, ranging from the simple marketing of grains to complex industrial processes, and by strong integration into international trade, particularly for straw cereals and maize.
